Onlive (As most of us here know) Is an amazing, and revolutionary platform that could completely change gaming as we know it. I have been a member for almost three years now and have loved every minute of it. From the insane deals to the Playpack, Onlive has some of the most intuitive and just flat out cool features available.

But everything has it's drawbacks, Onlive has some issues that can be huge turn-offs for some users. Now before I continue on this subject please note that this is not a flame thread, it is quite the opposite, and if I state anything here that you think is incorrect, please feel to inform me (In a nicely written, mature manner please). One of Onlive's biggest fall backs, is it's games, sure it has some AAA companies like THQ and Ubisoft on board, but what about EA and Infinity ward, sure I'm not a big fan of COD myself, but think of how many people would jump to Onlive if they found out there was a way they could play Modern Warfare 3 on their five year old Desktop. These drawbacks can be big at times, but usually don't take away from the experience and fun that you have when playing Onlive.

Now let's talk about success, economically. Onlive (In my opinion) has two places where I believe it will succeed, and one that it will utterly fail at. In terms of PC & Mac gaming (As I stated above) Onlive is revolutionary, and will draw in the curiosity of many gamers. Just think about it, you can buy (Or build) a 1,000 dollar computer, or download a small program with huge discounts on amazing games. The service (Again in my opinion) will also succeed in tablet gaming, and desktop management. It is in the same boat as what i said about computer gaming. Now let's flip the coin to a completely different direction. Console gaming. I own an Onlive console myself, and although I love it to death, I know deep down that it will not be a success. They're three reasons as to why I believe this.

1. Hardware, it is much to difficult to setup, and with most having their modem next to their computer, and some not even having an HDTV at all, it can get pricey.
2. Internet Connection, Some are still on DSL, some have Charter *snicker* and some just don't have a reliable internet connection.
3. Reliablity, What if the Onlive servers go down? With an Xbox or PS3, you can keep playing your games and earning trophys/achievments, but if these servers go down, there is nothing you can really do about it.

Although the I believe that Onlive console gaming will fail, It will absolutely explode in the other two criterias.

On a last note I should probably mention competition. Many people say Gaikai will eat Onlive for breakfast, others vice versa. But what many don't realize, is that they don't have as many similarities as many would think. Sure, they're both cloud platforms, and they both run games, but that's about it. Gaikai is a software meant for game companies to let their customers try a demo with the ease of clicking on an ad on the side of a webpage. Onlive on the other hand is a Cloud gaming platform, meant for users to come and play games, and hangout with friends. Now about Gaikai having EA, (I'm not so sure on the Onlive/EA situation) It's not that big a deal, Gaikai has EA, but only EA.

Being a Veteran member myself, I would like to inform new users to try the service, and see how it fits for their taste. And if you don't enjoy it, don't go flaming on Youtube about it not having the games for your needs. I hope you all enjoyed my rambling, Game on my friends :).
