At OnLiveFans.com we believe in a community that is comfortable with itself, interacts smoothly and productively. Our intention is to provide the platform for members to share and discuss their opinions on the topic of OnLive, cloud technology, etc. Unfortunately though rules must exists that cater to the interest of all our members. These rules are in place to ensure OnLiveFans.com remains the number one unofficial OnLive fan website.
With that in mind, we have selected individuals who we feel possess the ability to help guide this community and make sure it remains on track. This means removing spam, advertising posts, closing duplicate threads, and also handing out infractions when members get out of hand and start to ruin it for others.
Our staff does reserve the right to moderate any given situation on a case by case basis. We don't wish to bore you, more than we already have to with forum rules, by listing out every possible scenario. Use your best judgement, and try to keep others' feelings in mind as much as you possibly can.
We try to avoid being heavy handed, and ultimately the staff is just as much a part of this community as you are. Without our members we have no community, so these are NOT here simply to provide an excuse to exercise authority or power over you. Stick around long enough and you'll experience this for yourself.
The rules are as follows:
Inappropriate Language -
Generally speaking most language that is not directed specifically towards someone, or used in a manner to defame or insult another is acceptable. Directed inappropriate language will start with a warning, will escalate to timed periods of banning and can result in the permanent banning of an account, if the behavior continues unchecked.
Example of acceptable "inappropriate language": I'm fucking loving this $5 Friday deal!
Example of UNacceptable "inappropriate language": I cannot believe [insert name here] is wasting his money on this $5 Friday deal, what a fucking idiot.
Racial or Discriminatory Language -
Long gone are the days where racial or discriminatory terms are acceptable, and upon us are the days where such language can bring about unwanted legal ramifications. As such, terms that specifically attack another person's race, nationality, sexual orientation or could otherwise be considered discriminatory are unacceptable. This type of language will usually always result in a timed suspension of an account, and if continues, will result in a permanent ban. If you're unsure as to whether a statement you're going to make will violate this section of the rules, you probably shouldn't post it. Always feel free to contact a moderator though, for clarification.
Spam -
Below are some examples of spamming that can result in suspended accounts.
Creating an account for the sole purpose of advertising another website, products, service, etc. will result in an
immediate and permanent account ban.
Constantly posting nonsensical or irrelevant posts/threads in an effort to increase your post count.
Creating multiple threads on a topic that has already been recently discussed.
Re-creating topics that have been specifically closed my members of the moderation staff.
Adhering to moderators -
If a moderator has to give an infraction to your account for violating one of the rules, please acknowledge the rule and do not repeat the violation. Repeated violations will escalate to longer and more severe action taken against an account.
Abuse of position -
We encourage any of our members who feel that a member of our staff are abusing their position as moderators to contact one of our admin staff. You can do so by viewing the staff list (available through this link: http://onlivefans.com/showgroups.php), and sending any of the admins a private message.
